Lasting change requires elements of motivation, willpower and setting and chasing outcomes. But mostly it’s transforming yourself into someone new?
You don’t rise to the level of your goals. You fall to the level of your habits, with habits being anchored in your identity.
This 30-day blueprint is designed to help you make a meaningful shift by redefining who you are rather than focusing on short term goals
Whatever aspect of you or your life you want to change the BRAVE Performance Method gives you a simple framework to build the identity that aligns with your future.
Belief, Resilience, Adaptability, Vision, and Energy each guide a stage of the transformation. Through daily action and reflection, you’ll build a new foundation for change that lasts.
You don’t need to wait for the perfect moment. You need a plan and 30 days of showing up with purpose.
Define Your Identity Shift
Who are you becoming?
Before you set any goals or start any new habits ask yourself who are you ready to become? What are you shedding, what are you becoming? This is your vision.
Real change it begins with identity. And when habits are built on the foundation of a clear, purposeful identity, they become easier to maintain. Instead of doing thing you are living in alignment to your vision.
Take some time to define your identity. What are you becoming and why does it matter to you. Write it down and keep it in a place visible to you.
Belief
Build belief through action
Start small and take action. Belief is built through the evidence we see when we take action. Belief leads to you building the energy to keep going and momentum as you feel the path ahead get easier.
Choose to take action on the daily keystone habits that reinforce your identity. What are the non negotiables you need be ticking off each day to be considered this person you want to be.
The action you take could be very small. 10 minutes of exercise is better than none and reinforces your commitment to your vision. The start of a new journey isn’t a time to be grandiose in your actions, small, consistent action builds belief and belief builds a new life.
Resilience
Expect friction and plan for it
Resilience is showing up and being consistent in spite of setbacks. Not the absence of them. Expect for things to not be perfect, plan for them and be ready to tackle them anyway.
When you plan the habits you want to reinforce, plan for the setbacks which may show up. Be ready for them. Be ready to pivot and make changes or embrace being adaptable along your path.
Celebrate resilience when you reflect on your journey. Celebrate the moments where you had to overcome hard things and when they strengthened your identity. these are the challenges which could have derailed you but as you stay aligned to your vision and identity you overcome them and resilience grew as did your new identity.
Adaptability
Change course when needed, not the destination
Rigidity fails where flexible systems and mindsets grow and succeed. As you step into a new identity and a new version of yourself there will aspects that you get perfectly right and others which need course correction. Having a mindset that includes adaptability is important to ascertain where you need to make space to grow.
We don’t get every plan right from the start, be ready to adapt and build contingencies into the plan. A rigid plan will fail, be flexible and adapt as the plan unfolds.
There will be things you need to let go of to make space for your new identity. Adapt and be flexible enough to make space for new things when they arise. Reflect often and measure yourself.
Vision
Reconnect with your future self
Regularly looking back at our vision keeps the fire alive when motivation fades. As the journey to a new identity comes to life reflect on how your vision matches up to who you’ve become and are still becoming.
Visions don’t have to be set in stone. Your identity statement from the beginning may change. It may require tweaks as you navigate the twists and turns of life. be ready to reaffirm your identity statement and keep yourself aligned to this vision.
Are your daily keystone habits getting you towards this vision. And is the vision what you wanted anyway. Once you have taken action and made progress you can reflect and realign if you believe you need to. otherwise keep going, by now you’ve made significant progress.
Energy
Protect and fuel your momentum
Energy is the fire that fuels performance and the daily habits that grow momentum and ultimately your identity. Commit to at least one daily habit that fuels this energy. Give this habit a place in your day, preferably the same time each day where it can happen unopposed. However, while accepting adaptability over rigidity.
You can also perform an audit of your energy. What gives you energy and what drains your energy. Of the energy drainers what can you reduce or eliminate. Maybe it’s a food, activity or person that drives your energy levels lower and means you are less likely to get the work done. Or it could be the time of the day that bests suits you.
Showing up with the energy to commit is a foundational component of consistent action. Long term discipline is easy when we have the energy to show up day after day. Protect this energy, shed what drains and feed what gives you energy.
Integration and Reflection
The perfect timeline for becoming the person you need to be doesn’t exist. Change rarely happens in line with your calendar or when and how we want it. What matters most is that you take action. Defining a vision, aligning your habits and living in a way that reflects this person.
This transformation is an ongoing integration where you choose each day to step into your new identity with clarity and intention.
Daily Integration
This happens when you keep showing up for your keystone habits. Those small, repeatable actions that reinforce your identity. When you return to your vision and identity statement often. And let it ground you when life gets busy or noisy.
Use the BRAVE framework to set your intention and course correct when required.
When you feel off-track, ask which element needs your attention.
Regular Reflection
Use natural checkpoints in time or when you feel stuck to pause and reflect. Ask yourself the following questions or variations of these.
What actions have deepened my belief in myself?
What resistance have I faced? How did I respond?
Where am I being pulled back into old patterns?
How can I support my energy and momentum right now?
Life isn’t a race, there’s no need to rush. Be present and intentional and every time you align a choice with your identity, you reinforce the shift with awareness and persistence.
The Start of a New You
Real and lasting change begins with identity. When you believe in who you are becoming, your habits, mindset and direction shift in powerful ways.
My hope is this is the beginning of a new story, written through your choices, your resilience and your vision. Keep showing up aligned to your vision. Let your daily actions reflect your future self and see what unfolds.
